In 1907, Daniel Garber settled into a farm along Cuttalossa Creek in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where he harmoniously merged nature, art, and domestic life. In this portrait of his daughter, Tanis, light from the garden outside his studio renders her smock translucent, while the composition’s serene geometry captures the shimmer of an endless summer afternoon.
